I am very excited that I have teamed up with Every Child Every Time to create a blog series about life with chronic pain, in the eyes of a young person. I was diagnosed with chronic pain when I was 13 years old. This was not easy for me to accept. Some days are harder than others, but I have come a long way.
I am writing this now after completing my first year of university. With this blog I hope to connect with other young people who live with pain, by talking about what living with chronic pain from a young age is really like. I hope that hearing my story can show others that no matter how impossible it is to imagine things getting better, they can.
I will talk about some of the ways I have adjusted to this pain, and my thoughts on how others can better support people who live with pain. It may surprise you to know that about 1 in 4 children will experience some form of chronic pain. That is A LOT of kids. We are not alone in this, and we all deserve the best care and support possible!
Although our stories will vary, I hope you will find something meaningful here.
